from June 15th until december 31st, thirty incredible creations by dutch fashion designer iris van herpen will be on display in calais, france at the cité internationale de la dentelle et de la mode de calais as part of the CRYSALIS project. aiming to promote and encourage textile innovation, the exhibition questions the creative process and the interaction between the garment and its wearer.
Since starting her own label in 2007, iris van herpen has picked up a string of awards, has been invited to the parisian catwalks by the prestigious chambre syndicale de la haute couture, and has seen her clothing worn by trend-setting celebrities such as björk and lady gaga. her distinctive approach to fashion blends traditional know-how with innovative technological research. in 2010, she began collaborating with materialise, ultimately producing ten dresses with the 3D printing pioneer. In 2011, TIME magazine named her 3D printed dresses as one of the 50 best inventions of the year.
