the word ‘moulin’ conjures up images of a distant past fueled by the energy of an age driven by excess. however, this good, old-fashioned moulin chair designed by the late pierre paulin is anything but ostentatious. its simple lines provoke a sense of order. tranquility. previously in the collection of thonet france, moulin now completes the artifort collection. the design of the moulin dates from pierre paulin’s early years and was conceived on the rue jean moulin. the design is modest with a slim frame and an upholstered back and seat. simple and without frills.

artifort’s junior collection, based on the designs by pierre paulin, is children’s furniture that brings something extra to your interior. the rounded, playful (mushroom) shapes and soft upholstery make them a firm favorite with kids, especially in the bright colors that so perfectly match artifort’s classic designs. and, of course, you can choose the version that suits your taste. construction: the mushroom junior consists of a foam-covered steel frame upholstered with dacron and a stretchable furnishing fabric.

His work remains timeless and progressive even today. this is not form for form’s sake but applied design. with comfort as the constant starting-point. artifort still includes many of paulin’s designs dating from the nineteen-sixties and seventies in its permanent collection. his work can be admired in museums throughout the world. apart from furniture, he also designed interiors for the french presidents pompidou and mitterrand in the elysée palace in paris. pierre paulin died on june 13, 2009 in a hospital in montpellier (france). the french president sarkozy honoured him as “the man who made design an art”. in november 2009, paulin was posthumously awarded the distinction of “royal designer for industry” (rdi).
