the kristalia sheLLf, designed by ka-lai chan, is not just any shelf. its double L indicates there’s something intrinsically loveable about an object that simultaneously exists as both an art object and a practical storage unit. sheLLf began as a limited edition object, however it evolved into a standard product because of kristalia technology which brings sophisticated design concepts to life. the kristalia sheLLF is a combination of rectangular units in different sizes with lacquer finish that are connected with invisible 45° joints. chan says the inspiration for her design comes from the idea of emergence and “an animal coming out of its shell”.
