“jalis” is the magical word from the orient for hospitality and relaxed communication with family members or friends. in any circumstances, for any living area. cushions side by side, stories one after another. this is how oases of well-being – and favorite sofas – come about. special upholstery provides support and fabulous comfort.
jalis was created out of the shape of cushions which rest on pedestals or float on a metal base. fabric is available in a multiverse of materials. pedestals can be lacquered or veneered in fine woods and complimented by the matching occasional tables, which allow for a multitude of planning and design possibilities.
markus jehs (born in 1965 in stuttgart) and jürgen laub ( born in 1964 in ulm) met each other during the academic studies of industrial design at the hochschule für gestaltung schwäbisch gmuend‘ and became friends after an internship in New York in 1990.
year by year they expanded the cooperation with international brands like cassina, fritz hansen, knoll international, renz, stelton, davis, schönbuch, cor and wilkhahn.for mercedes-benz they designed the master concept of the worldwide showrooms, numerous interior designs and exhibitions, such as the ‚suite 606‘ at the world famous Icehotel in north sweden.
jehs+laub won many international awards, their projects have been shown in numerous exhibitions and they give lectures all over the world.
